The South Africans dominate the fishing charters in Tanzania. I have a friend that goes regularly from the Dar Yacht club to Latham Island. The pictures he sends of the catch are incredible. A over night trip costs about $1,500. My friend says that sometimes he is so tired, that he tells the crew members to pull in the fish.
The more people we put in the boat, the cheaper it becomes. I know charter boats leave from Zanzibar to Latham Island too. I am ready for a trip whenever you are however, the timing is going to be dictated by the time the fish are running.
The following pictures are from a Comorian friend of mine in Zanzibar. They were shot last week. The jodari or tuna are running now. I can guarantee you that some of these fish were caught by an old man in a canoe with just a line, no rod. They must have had great fights.
